SCE 2010: Get SQL 2008 Database Space Error

After a fresh System Center Essentials Installation You might get the following alert: “Microsoft JScript runtime error: ‘Databases’ is null or not an object”

If you log on to the server and run the script manually, you will see the error description “Automation server can’t create object”

Why is that? Well the script is using “SQL Server Database Management Objects “, this has been removed from SQL Server 2008 R2 Express.

Solution:

Download and install the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components on this page. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6375

The link to download it is somewhere in the middle. (search for DMO)
